WOW--all I ever wanted to know, and then some. So, it is like a cross between Worcestershire sauce and Heinz 57 steak sauce, I think.

Yes, that is the proper description as far as I am concerned, and, to me, therein lies the problem: either of those better achieves said purpose, and this brit approach screws it up by making a "one sauce fits all" if you ask me...I found myself saying "too heavy for this one!" and then "whoops...too light for that one!"

I am sure a real brit will come along and explain how wrong headed I have been...

Make a bacon sandwich with HP Sauce and it tastes like heaven.

You know, Miss D, when you say it, it does sound tasty. I'm thinking Sunday afternoon during NASCAR.
(Please don't tell Tell I spoke directly to you.)

That's okay...you made me want to buy a bottle too. I can replace the 20 yr old jar of Veg-e-mite (sp?) I have sitting on my desk at work as "unusual food item memento" from Australia...

See? This is my point in the other thread about authors...sometimes "how" something is said is much more important than "what"...well, okay, that's not really the exact point, but maybe half the point. And, in this case, I think that we are largely imagining "how" it's said, but, I think it's true...Miss D, jess, the other unrevealed gals at the Forum--they do post somewhat differently...Now, is that sexist?

I just went to the canteen and bought myself a toasted bacon sandwich, and a small bottle of HP.

All gone, and it was beautiful....
